Houston

  • Houston It can be considered the fourth most important city in the United States, in addition to being the most important city in Texas, is the business, technological and commercial center of that state.
  • It is a great metropolitan center with a sophisticated cosmopolitan atmosphere and all the attractions that you can expect from a big city. Very close to the Gulf of Mexico, its character as a cosmopolitan and sophisticated metropolis makes it not a tourist city par excellence, as can happen with New York or Washington, but its parks, museums, and other attractions offer a very pleasant stay. Its economic progress has been increasing over the years, materializing in the construction of huge skyscrapers and shopping centers both in the center and in the surroundings.
  • The city of Houston, Texas, was founded in August 1836 by brothers Augustus and John Allen. The following year, in 1837, Houston joined the Republic of Texas and remained its capital until 1840. At that time, the economy of Houston was mainly based on agriculture. However, when oil was discovered at Spindletop in 1901, it became the most important economic pillar.
  • The 1940s brought great diversification and important industries to the banks of the shipping channel. In the 1950s, the Texas Medical Center became a reality and propelled Houston to a high level in international medicine.
  • NASA chose Houston as the headquarters of the manned spacecraft of the control center and was completed in the late 1960s.
